Our Story
Get OffBeat didn't start with a business plan. It started with one embroidery workshop, a handful of strangers around a table, and the realization that everyone in that room wanted the exact same thing: a reason to put their phone down and make something with people who actually live in the same city as them.
Jasmine picked up a needle ten years ago — mostly for herself, in the quiet hours around a full-time career in brand and creative strategy. But that first workshop turned into a second one, then a collab, then a waitlist, then people she'd never met messaging to ask if they could co-host, teach, or lend a space. Get OffBeat became the name for all of it: not a studio, not a store, just a running, growing community of people in Edmonton who make things.

What We Do
Get OffBeat runs hands-on workshops, craft nights, and pop-up gatherings across Edmonton — embroidery, patch-making, ceramics, and whatever else the community brings to the table next. Some sessions are beginner workshops with full instruction start to finish; others are looser hangouts (bring what you're working on, sip something, talk to strangers).
We also collaborate — with local cafés and venues who host us, with makers who want to teach a session, and with anyone who has an idea for a gathering Edmonton doesn't have yet.
Meet Jasmine
Jasmine is a Creative Director and embroidery artist based in Edmonton, and the founder of Get OffBeat. With 8+ years leading brand identity and content strategy, she's helped ship 100+ campaigns and built the multidisciplinary teams behind them — turning loose, ambiguous ideas into things people actually connect with and stick around for.
Ten years ago, she picked up a needle and thread. That same instinct for building community around a craft became the seed for Get OffBeat — a project born out of wanting more real, in-person connection in Edmonton's creative scene. Somewhere makers, hosts, and people with completely different skill sets could find each other, team up, and build something together instead of just scrolling past it.
She now splits her time between running Get OffBeat's workshops and events, and bringing that same energy — for turning an idea into something people show up for — to the brands she works with by day.
Where We’re Headed
Get OffBeat is young — we're still figuring out a lot of this in real time: which formats stick, which neighbourhoods want us next, whether a studio comes before or after the second city. What's not up for figuring out is the part that matters — that this stays small enough to actually know the people in the room, and built by the community as much as for it.
